The Geological Time Scale is a standard calendar of Earths history, used by geologists around the world. Learning the Time Scale is one of those tedious things that every student of the Earth must do at some point. This a very simple app to help you learn it - or to refresh your memory, if you need.
The gts app presents all the recognized eons, eras, and periods of the Geological Time Scale, as well as the epochs of the Cenozoic Era. It also presents a little detail on each period, and on the epochs of the most recent period, the Cenozoic. The dates of the boundaries between periods, as well as the colors used in the app, are those currently (November, 2011) accepted by the United States Geological Survey, and the International Commission on Stratigraphy.
